Hello all....

This website changed my life. ( : Sounds overly dramatic, but it is true. I hope to look back a year or so from now and think, "I am forever grateful......"  Anywho, I think my favorite part of cc, aside from all the great educational information, is the overwhelming support and friendship I've found here. I guess most of my life I've only trusted and truly befriended a handful of unique women---I hold my friends in the highest regard and do not take camraderie lightly. The women I have met here are seriously my spiritual twins! I always felt very alone in my weight loss journey----no more!

That said, I think my cc girls, and you know who you are, are the best! ( :   My buddies, my pals, my soul sisters =P Chat away to motivate yourself and others! ( ;

Jenna:  THat was my thought exactly.. I'm so upset I couldn't have had the lightbulb go off over my head EARLIER in life...

Before.. it was always like I want to lose X amount and be size 6 by THIS date... and when it looked like I wasn't going to get there...  I'd quit... and get BIGGER...

Then.. the last time... I really DID ALMOST make it... lost 168 and had 15 to go... but then life got in the way... and well.

NEVER, EVER again...  life is so much better this way!
I have been to that point at least 3 times since I was 16 and somehow weighed 152 when we did the dreaded body fat pinch test in gym.....

I never really "got it" before this summer though..... I did everything I did like the least healthy was possible and lived to tell that tale and try it all again, only smarter and more supported by awesome chicks!

I wish someone could teach you to turn the light bulb on! I would have listened......
Tamara - Wow, that story is crazy. Sucks about ur mom, and the whole experience! The crazy things that happened as kids...this is makign me think of a bunch of stories now! lol

Jenna - I 100% agree with you too about changing. I haven't weighed myself since Monday 7-30, and I'm not going to until Fri 8-10 for the August challenge, so let's hope there is some change in numbers, but as I was just telling my co-worker, I'm not so worried about the numbers anymore. I can FEEL the difference in when I exercise, and how I feel after eating. No more bloat and tiredness, I feel good! I wish I had found things sooner, but ur right about not meeting each other then! It's meant to be! :) We are all meant to be friends! :) I hope you have a wodnerful night with ur daugther, keep up the good work with food/exercise! Thansk for all ur help too!

Olivia - CC wasn't wrong, I am assuming I'm wrong on my guess. I have like 4 different marinades and was looking at all of them last night, so I prob just mixed them up. So I'm only goign to count 25 cals for 1 TB since most will scrape or grill off. I'll definitely ck my butter spray, I do have one with a pump, and didn't look close enough, thanks for the heads up!

Still wanting the info on ur sister though....
mama--I LOVE that how you feel after eating thought!  I hadn't even considered that one... in general.. more energetic.. happier, etc.  but after eating... YEs... I litereally used to feel GREASY... uncomfotable.. .like I had gained ten pounds during a meal...  Oh how great! You opened my eyes to yet ANOTHER good thing about being healthy... I can enjoy my dinner... but it's not a stuff fest that is painful afterward... Oh gosh... when I was enormous... the HEARTBURN... I'd wake up in the middle of the night LITERALLY choking!!!

everythings great with mom now... she's addicted to triathlons instead of alcohol!  Actually.. this group reminds me A  LOT of her tris..  You go to cheer her on... and you're SURROUNDED by happy, proud.. ESTROGEN!

I do weigh every day still...  Too many changes so far in one week!  Maybe next week :-)  I do CHART my weight daily, tho... so I don't freak out by the one day up... one day down deal... not so fond of the L O N G continuous line.. but... like we said...doesn't matter.. it'll drop... or it won't.. either way... I'm soooo much better than I was in June!
I keep close track ofnumber too, alswas weighing after my shower after my exercise forthe day, but I don't stress too badly either (minus the recent 9 lb up!)... lol

oh, god, jo, how cold I forget! My younger brother and I are two peas in a pod, from looks to personality....I swear my sister was switched at birth. She just one of those people who rub you the wrong way, a lot of time on purpose, but other times it's seriously just her being her, you know? Example, John, my brother and I all drove 8+ hours to TX on a Saturday morning , turning around and coming home the next day, to attend her graduation from chipropractic college (a story for another time!@).... We arrive and the first thing she says to me is, "well, I'm glad you're getting a makeover..." It was around our bdays, so a gift, but the impliction was clearly that I looked like crap. How nice of her, huh? That is just one of the many things I could say---from Xmas gifts she looked over with obvious disdain to rubbing your face in everything you ever did wrong for the rest of your life. We are the two most different Aries I know.... Tandi is her own woman. I admire her tenacity and bluntness, but sometimes I just wish she could keep  it to herself. =P

PS: long story short, chiro college cost her like 100K+, she got a job, the guy was a charlatan/insuarance scam artist, so she's been working at a vet's office since then and just recently decided she could teach high school scienceto 9th graders and got her first job..... I am looking forward to seeing how she fares with 14 year olds.....
Did my walk - and BOO couldn't up it to 2 miles, only bcuz A accidentally moved my shoes from right in front of the door to the garage to the side of the garage and I forgot to grab them. So I walked 1 mile in flip flops, but it really hurt, and I have a blister now that I couldn't do the 2nd mile. At least I did one though!

Tamara - I definitely feel the difference, I love it. Heartburn is right, I never really started getting it untila few months ago, and I know it's from the food I used to eat. Speakign of triathalons, my cousin just sent me pics form the one she did this past weekend in CO. Race for the Cure!! :) I would love to do that one day. Glad ur mom is better!

Olivia - I know what you mean about the type of person ur sister is. My sister and I are super close, and my other sis and I are pretty close, I couldn't even imagine having a relationship like that. Maybe she'll grow up one day and learn and change....keep hope. That's what I do with my bro. That's a big career change for her, maybe it'll help her grow up by being aroudn kids. LOL.

I'm going to leave work now, and off to get ready for my dinner partY!! :) Have a good night gals, talk to you tomorrow!
I had the same thought, joanna.... I think she will either love it through some sheer miracle, be miserable and quit after a year, or perhaps like it and want to keep getting better at it like I did...  It will definitely make her grow up---one way or the other!

Blisters suck too! Next time you go walk/until it;s healed, band-aid up if you can and double up on your socks. I swear that is the only reason I still have toes....I swear I almost lost a couple of them and I finally just lost the huge callous on my heel---that I got in the almost very beginning, new insoles + hole in my sock = huge-mongous blister poking out of the hole by the time I got my 5 miles done..... It was impressive enough I took a picture of it to gross out the bf! =P
Dinner went ok, over cals bcuz wine and some baked beans but it's ok, getting dinner ready, cleaning up, playing with my friend's kids etc helped burn cals I'm sure, I was on my feet and sweatin most of the time! :)

Band-aids for sure, when I first started exercising again I used my worn out shoes and got 3 blisters. I got new shoes and it's like walking on air, really inexpensive too. $40 at Big 5 for New Blanace running shoes.

Too funny that you took pics!

Well, I'll look forward to chatting with you all in the morning aka afternoon for you all! :)
Dang, mama!

I did the same thing---worked out in the eold shoes and then got new New Balance ones for $40, but the new ones are not much better than the old one... / :   The girl working was an idiot---I asked her if she could help me and she said, yeah, the 8's are over there.... I wanted to have them sized, I think a good saleperson would have suggested I got up to a 9 so the toe box would be comfortable.  Curses.......

SO there will be a new Walking Off the Weight 2 in the motivation forum starting today since the other is getting so long. Anyone/ everyone should come along....I think wogging counts ( ;
Hey ya ladies!

Olivia"  there are some store around here that if you "trade in" your old shoes you get discounts on new ones... especially the RUNNING stores... might want to check

mama... I was over on calories last night, too... maybe... am I aiming for 1800 or 1500?  *lol*

Regardless... for WHATEVER reason... I believe the BOUNCING one pound plateau is broken.  Yesterday I was down .8 pounds... today a FULL pound... (after less exercise AND more food yesterday... go figure!)  Is it that I quit diet coke?  that I take green tea?  that I ate more?  WHo knows... who cares... no more plateau.

I'll be on the "wine" diet for dinner myself tonight... Date night with the hubby and we're going to wine class... The problem with me (tee hee) is that VERY often on the days I drink I find myself logging a BOTTLE of wine in my calories...

Looking forward to seeing how abbs dinner was!!

Someone gave this information on here one time, tho, of why alcohol calories don't affect your weight loss as much as other calories... they're metabolized differently... (that's why despite so many calories most alcoholics are skinny)... take it or leave it...  some also say it slows your metabolism

You can find an argument for anything I suppose!

Anyway, let's all have a fantastic day ladies!
I would be interested in an alcohol metabolism science lesson..... Like doing Atkins, hard liquor, while not great for you, is allowable since it has little carb impact. It does, however, slow down weight loss since alcohol has to be broken down by the bod before anything else can be.... or something along that line....  I never realized how many cals there were in booze until I started cc..... woo!

I AM so checking on a place to exchange my shoes!!! great info, tamara--thanks ( ;  and yay for plateau breakage--woo hoo

I woke up at the butt crack of dawn, made the bf put out, got out the door to walk at 6:10 AM. Walked with weights 4 miles, went and got Bandit--maybe another 2?

I am frustrated that I can not combine all these activities together..... I actually like jogging pretty well now that I've lost a few/I can feel less jiggling. But I can't jog with the handweights -- lacking in coordination. I can't walk El Bandito with the weights either. DANG.

I got the nicest mood booster this morning after a snippy start due to no junky food in the house anymore (long story--some other time if anyone's interested...). I'm about 1/2 way through the 4 miles on the long loopy/cul-de-sac/1.5 mile route I do, and I notice this sprinkler and tons of birds PARTYING in the spray like little kids. It made me happy, and then I realized the lady owner was watching me laughing.  ( ; I took off my headphones and we chatter a minute. I started to walk on, and she said something like, "I admire you. I noticed when you started walking in May and you've lost a lot of weight!" And she went on to ask about my new dog (Bandit) and how long had I been jogging instead of walking etc.....  Bless her heart. I wonder if she had any idea how she totally made my day??? ( :
morning sweets!  I'm in a different department today which occupies my time because there's so much more to do and I'm not here but once a month so I have to keep all my ducks in a row! pretty busy so far so if you don't see much of me today, I'm flailing under a million verifications!!  anyway, just wanted to check in.

congrats on the plateau breakage, Tamara and awesome compliment Olivia!  you are an inspiration to everyone!  And I'm sure you did fine at your dinner party, mama!  Alc is a necessary evil sometimes I say.  let loose!!  :)

probably went over cals yesterday as I ate some pretzels AFTER my 100 cal cup of pudding.  did pilates tape last night, 20 minutes,  the elliptical did not get my company as I swear it had condensation all over it due to the lack of ac air in our bedroom.  maybe tonight but today's heat seems worse....and spilt my protein shake all over porch furniture this am trying to me myself and the little one out the door on time in this disgusting oppressive heat, I was soaking with sweat by the time I got in the car!  ugh!!  I stopped and picked up an iced coffee = 100 cals as opposed to the frapp which is 150 for 1 serving, 2 servings in the bottle, I would guzzle the whole thing!  the iced coffee is starbucks too, wooooo hooooo, here's to finding alternatives!    also then grabbed a cookie from the staff room took one bite and it was not yummy or maybe that was guilt tasting it but I tossed the rest in trash, not wasting my cals on something that doesn't taste good.  so how many cals in one bite of disgusting cookie I wonder?

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday all.  :)
I think call the cookie bite 20 and be done with it!  Good for you, spitting it out. It IS okay to have a cookie if you want it and it's good, but I find a lot of the foods I used to not be able to live without just don't taste as good anymore......  ( ; That's a good thing, I s'pose.

Sorry your morning sucked the big one, J!  / : I say blow it off and just smile because you're making great choices and it's paying off! ( :
olivia  Taste is a funny thing isn't it... I have a friend who was dianosed with diabetes 2 and has been GREAT about her carbs... and now she says the thought of pecan pie literally nauseates her... I had a bite of pizza a few weeks ago.. TOO SALTY!  YUCK!  (although my spaghetti last night ROCKED!)

Also... *lol* on the dog and weights thing... I rode a bike with my dog... who decided she had to run off and see ANOTHER dog... talk about injury.. luckily I fell in the grass!

jenna Good job on the piilates... I have the Windsor series but haven't actually done it yet... My 7-day free gym membership ran out, so I'm hoping they call me with some "spectacular sign up offer"  The gym's not expensive.. really... only $20 a month... but the sign up fee is $24 with a $79 administration fee and first and last month's membership... so it addes up.  I have PLENTY of DVD's at home, tho... and the apt. complex has a gym with adequate equipment... so NO EXCUSES for me... cooling down the apt. now for workout today!

I have a question tho...

My husband has been having a lot of pain in his back... and I'm telling you when he stands up I can SEE that his back is curved... This is especially rotten because I'm feeling hot and sexy...  we've only been married for six months... and our sex life sucks *lol*

so for about a week I've been PUSHING him to see a chiropractor... I"ve never seen one in my life... but it seems like every friend I have who goes to the doctor for back pain ends up in surgery... and then that one doesn't work... and they have another... and another...and eventually they wish they had just lived with it in the first place.

Anyway... husband went to the chiropractor yesterday and they told him that he has an underdeveloped vertebra in his hip... and (this is what got me on the "quack" thought...  one leg shorter than the other... (You know, like the Friend's episode with Rachel?)

Well, he's sold now... says that he feels better... but he's got to go in three days a week for about a month.  The PLUS is the doctor wants him to start working out... which is great... about a year and a half ago he was working out every day... then he started to care about what he ate... you know how the pattern goes... but it would be great if he wanted to be part of my lifestyle, too.

But should I be concerned about this chiropractor thing?  or is it something that really works for people?
I would be DEAD (or horribly injured) if I tried to ride a bike with a dog!!!

Actually, I could probably kill myself on a bicycle without a dog..... I didn;t learn how to ride one until I was almost 8, hated it, rode mine maybe 10 times total and haven't been on non-stationary one in YEARS..... maybe after I lose some more weight, it would be more fun! ( :

PS: LOL Bandit just about tries to trip me every day, we were just wogging!  Gotta love him--he gets all excited and wants to run in all directions at once.
I LOVE my chiropractor.  My parents LOVE theirs.  My boyfriend and his parents LOVE theirs.  He had done wonders for my spine and problems I was having with my wrists.  Do not only go to one and ignore your regular doc because when I had a bulging and herniated disc I needed my reg docs help in addition to the chiro but chiros can do great things for you.  When I get persistent headaches (which are mostly caused by my underactive tyroid) but sometimes I have a disc out of wack, one visit there and poof they are gone!!  it's scary when they crack your neck but oh so much relief!!  I recommend highly but do not replace, just add to your regular docs.  like a vitamin if you will.  it doesn't replace nutrition but supplements nicely.  :)
He was a mess when I met him... *lol*.. hadn't been to the dentist in more than ten years... and hasn't been to the doctor in longer than that...

I haven't been able to get him to go to the doctor yet... (Who am I to talk... been too long for me, too...) BUT I did get him to do this... chiro took xrays and all and didn't refer him to a doctor...

A reputable chiro would refer his patient to a doctor if necessary... woudn't he?
I think most chiros assume you already have a PCP! don't wait for him to refer, find one on your own.  :)

I hope he feels better soon, exercise will do him alot of good!!
utr:  My mom's a hygienist... so I'm something of a teeth/gum FREAK... I haven't ever had a cavity in my life...

Poor, honey... when I met him.. I was LITERALLY his first girlfriend and he was 28... and it's SHOCKING to me... Yes, he's somewhat geeky and socially awkward... but really.. .in the good ways...

He's good looking... 6'4 big guy (not fat in MAN world... just big *lol*)... graduated number 6 in his class in high school, was an all conference football player, recruited by air force, college graduate, makes really good money...  I just hit the jackpot...

BUT... he couldn't dress himself to save his life... thought academy was the only place for fashion..  silly "dad" hair... *lol*

But I was HYPER sensitive to his teeth... as in I could tell he didn't floss... (yeah, I'm a nut.. I have issues!)  He does now... poor guy has had more "health related appointments" in the past two years than probably EVER in his life... *lol*  I did tell him the best thing about going to the dentist is nitrus oxide... now we wants to go for fun on a weekend!   *lol*
Good morning gals, seems I didn't miss as much this morning as yesterday! I'm feelin good this morning, and not worried a bit about going over last night, but it's nice to here I'm not th eonly one who does it sometimes. **Not that I'm encouraging all of us to do so, rather just glad I'm not alone**

Olivia - Damn girl, good job with all the walking this morning! And the getting some! ;) hee hee But most off all, I'm so happy someone noticed u losing weight, what a great booster. I remember last yr when I lost weight, when one of the guys at my office I don't even speak to much, was like "man J, the weight is just melting of you! You look great!" I seriously started teary up - so good for you O!

Tamara - I don't go to the chiro, but all 4 of my parents, and most of my sibs, and in laws go, all love and swear by it as well. Good job on getting him to go to the dr/dentist/chiro! Congrats on breaking the plateau as well! You spaghetti sounds good and I can't wait to make some myself! You reallys houdl try the Windsor pilates, I really enjoy it, I have some of those DVD's too!

Jenna - THat sux about the ac last night and frustrating morning, but good job on the coffee and yaya for gross cookies! (Who would've thought I'd ever say that!)

UTR - DId it kinda gross you out that the hubby didn't go to the dentist? I think I'd be thinking about that everytime I kissed him! But then again, as mentioned, I'm a germaphobe about Everything!!!

A is a 27 and 6'1," not an athlete, but still bigger than me - seeing how I'm only 5'1"!!!

Hope you guys are having a good day!
