i just sent my revised thesis off to be printed, so that it can be submitted for defence tomorrow.  man, that was painful!

edit: make that "submitted tomorrow for defence." the actually defence won't be for six weeks.

YOU ROCK!!  That is so awesome.  I hope you are so frickin proud of yourself.   After defense what;s the next goal?

Congrats!!!

thanks, both of you!

betz, i'm looking for a job ;)  i'm in the running for a really good one in vancouver (see my aaack! thread from tuesday).

short term, i'm going home for the weekend (my dad's birthday is saturday), plan to paint my kitchen and bathroom (getting the house ready to go on the market), and i need to start running again.

i'd be raking and planting, but there's three feet of snow to melt first.

oh - and i have a lot of books to return to the library ;)

Hi! I just read your thread - congratulations, what a great feeling!

thanks, kmk!

yeah, i was fried three hours ago, but it's starting to feel pretty damn good now.

maybe it's the beer ;)

Yay for beer! Congrats pg!! :]  Wow 147 pages... that's intense!!! I think the longest paper I've ever written was like.... 6.

ha!  hayley, that's funny.  i have a friend in undergrad who gets me to proof her papers all the time, and they're all 5-8 pages.  i love it. i can read one in a commercial break!

it's not really 147 pages.  there's a title page, abstract, table of contents (3 pages!), acknowledgement, dedication, references (7 pages?), and appendices (many).  and, y'know, it took me half a year.  if you added up all your papers, you're probably pretty close to that!

Congrats! Where are you studying?

I just found out this week I got into both the grad schools I applied to, so it's nice to see people can survive the thesis. I'm a bit nervous!

Oops double post somehow. Sry.

congratulations pg that'll be a weight off your shoulders.

 Got my fingers crossed!

Good for you!

*waves around his thesis-less Masters' Degree*  :>

Actually, we had to do a two major projects our second year...one where we worked as consultants for someone and another where we pursued our own concentration...still, no real defense of either of them, however...had to present and receive feedback, but the chances of having to go back and revamp the project were way smaller than with an actual thesis defense, I'd imagine.

Oh, and regarding qualitative studies:

If you don't have numbers, all you got is an opinion -- my co-worker. :D

Yay pg!!!

what an awesome feeling!

I remember how I felt like a burden had literally been lifted.  w00T!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS pg!!!!!

How many beers did you end up drinking yesterday?  :D

Far F--king Out!!! Good job, Girl! Send me a copy if you haven't already...

*runs off to check email*

way to go PG!! hope you enjoyed those beers :p

Congratulations!!

Don't worry about the job interfering in your pajama-time.  I manage to still wear pajamas for a good portion of the day.

(You've given me hope!  My husband is working on his [art and function in Orthodox iconography] and nearly driving me crazy.   So, it does end.  Eventually.)

it's a master's in social work.  thesis is on the intersections between disordered eating, substance abuse, and self-injury.  honestly, bree, the thesis was so much easier than the course work. i loved the whole process: interviews, analysis, and writing (revising, not so much. other people's agendas, you know?)

good luck!
