i just sent my revised thesis off to be printed, so that it can be submitted for defence tomorrow.  man, that was painful!

edit: make that "submitted tomorrow for defence." the actually defence won't be for six weeks.

congrats, PG!

aww, the beers not feeling as good this morning?  that's the worst.  ah well, lay around and relax today!  :)

when should you expect to hear back on the job sitch?

i feel okay, starlit. thanks! not to much lying around today: have to pick up six copies of the thesis and take them to school so my advisor can submit them.  plus, i'm auditing a class.  and there might be more beers after the class ;)

my references are being checked for the job; hopefully will hear back soon!

that's so exciting!!!  are you part of the freakish cold front that's hitting the interior lately?  it's feeling pretty damn cold here today.  and my office appears to not know how to use the heater.  ugh...

aww, kenya's cute face may live near me soon.  aww.  (and i'm sure your face is cute too...lol).

ugh -33 when i got up this morning.  luckily i have full eastern exposure; it's like living in a greenhouse ;)

i'm not nearly as cute as kenya.

ugh.  did i ever whine to you that i lived in whitehorse for 8 years before i moved here?  ugh.  whitehorse winters are painfully long, and freakishly cold.  don't miss them.  the only thing that sucks about vancouver winters is the damn humidity...makes everything feel at least 10 degrees colder than it really is.

oh, and i don't think much is cuter than kenya.  envy is quite the adorable cat.  even if she is food in kenya's eyes.

i'll bet summers in whitehorse were amazing, though ;)

whitehorse, scenery-wise, is very pretty.  town-wise...it leaves something to be desired.  summers are beautiful if you're into outdoorsy stuff.  i didn't appreciate that aspect of it enough when i was there.  being a teen/young adult there kind of sucked...as there is NOTHING to do.  but i do like to go back and visit for a few days at a time.

i miss the northern lights the most though, i think.

the northern lights are awesome.

i used to live in a tiny town in southeastern BC, and in the fall we would get the most amazing shows.  my boss at the time (one of them) grew up in whitehorse, and even she said they were the most spectacular she'd ever seen.

before i moved there, i'd seen the northern lights, but when you get them in the south, they're usually pretty bland: mostly white, some blues and greens.  in that place, we had the full spectrum.  one night i had to pull over on my way home, because there was a streak of red a mile wide across the sky. another time i sat out on my porch in a sleeping bag (in november) for an hour, just staring at the sky.

moved north to PG; nothin'.

there are massive groups of tourists from asia that fly to whitehorse just for the northern lights.  it's effing hilarious, because i think they underestimate the cold.

i've never been terribly impressed by PG (the city, not you...of course).  maybe i never spent enough time there...always was driving through.  when i'm in a settling down phase of life, i think i want to end up somewhere either in the okanagan, the kootenays, or like, kamloops.

(if you need me, i'll be hijacking the thread and turning it into a BC tourism ad).

oh, there's nothing impressive about PG (the city, not me. i'm very impressive). you've spent enough time here, trust me.

i love the kootenays.  it's home.  parts of the okanagan are wicked, but kelowna is out of hand.  i think i could live in kamloops.

i just really miss the mountains. PG is dead flat. and then there's the smell.

(don't worry; i'm not protective about my threads ;))

okay, i have one good thing to say about PG; you can get surprisingly good sushi ;)

I'm a little late, but Gongrats PG!!

thanks, missy!

i love the mountains!  i think i'd miss them if i moved away from them.  whitehorse has mountains, but the ones closest to the city are pretty small. (by my standards anyways...i grew up travelling along the rockies).  i know i'd miss the ocean if i left vancouver.  it's a big part of why i chose to move here.

i live in the westend, and i can't see the ocean from my window, but i can see the mountains.  :)  and i'm only like, 3-5 small blocks from the ocean in 3 directions.

Ive started reading it.  I sent you a more personal email!  :)
