"Yaz" Did anyone gain weight on the "Yaz" pill?
I just started Yaz, and I am wondering if I will gain weight (like I have with other birth control pill). Does anyone have experience with Yaz and their weight? Thanks!
Reason: Moved from WL to Health & Support forum
Hmm... I dont take yaz... im on yasmin.. i've been on lots of kindas but they all have the weight gain issue. Though Im not sure how it works... it seems its only a one time weight gain? weird. But I've always gained with the pill... I don't think there is anyway around it.
i'm on yaz right now and im at my lowest weight in the past year. i don't go by all the negativity associated with BC pills.
I was on it for awhile and I didn't gain anything, same with Yasmin. Works great at clearing skin too! But like with all the pills, it always depends on your body. Works differently for everyone.
I started my weight loss and reached my goal, all while taking Yaz.
Yeah, I mean you can still lose weight while on the pill... I am. I had a friend who got married and tried out the pill not sure which one and she said she gained 10 pounds... she slim and tall so you really couldnt tell.. but I mean I only ever gained like 2-3 pounds... so yeah its different for everyone for sure.
any birth control pill is going to react different to anyone. if you gained weight on yaz, someone else might have reacted another way to it. someone may gain weight on another pill and maybe you wouldnt. my breasts grew a lot on yaz (and they hurt) so i switched pills. i think people need to really understand that every pill will cause different reactions in different people, any one pill will not always cause everyone to gain weight.
I started yaz over 6 months ago and I was gaining weight, but I was also eating probably about 300-400 more calories than i was burning, so that's probably why. Now I'm dieting and eating 400-500 less calories and I'm losing weight. I think the yaz might make you want to eat more or crave certain foods more, but keep making sure your calories don't go over a certain amount a day and you'll be fine.
I was on the shot for like 3 year and that stuff worked really well with my body I could lose weight on it and didn't get a period!!! (Yeah), but I switched because of all the bad hype of osteoporosis and stuff. I think I will go back on it after a year of this yaz. That's enough of a break I think.
I started Yaz yesterday after nearly two years on the Nuvaring. While I was at the doctor's office in the waiting room I picked up a pamphlet about the pill (in general, not any specific type) that said just as many women lose weight on it than gain. Some women's bodies might react in ways that cause them to gain weight when starting a new pill, but I believe part of it is also a mental thing, or self-fulfilling prophecy. Since so many women think weight gain is inevitable on the pill, it happens.
And also, if women lose weight on the pill they're probably more likely to attribute that to their own efforts, whereas when they gain they're more likely to say it must be the pill's fault.
The only reason that birth control "makes you" gain weight is because it makes you hungrier. Just don't eat more and you'll be fine.
I am on Yaz - Not sure if I have gained weight because of Yaz - but I def. retain more water on the pill for some odd reason...seeing if that will go down as I lose weight.
i was on Yasmin for a few years and switched to Yaz when it came out. Yasmin and Yaz are essentially the same thing, except periods tend to be shorter on Yaz because you take fewer non active (white) pills.
Yes, it does. You can lose it, but initially, you have a small (4-6 lb.) gain.
Lateda, I have not noticed any increase in my hunger levels. My food intake was the same (on a deficit) and I still gained 5 pounds the first month on Yaz.
Some weight (a pound or two) seemed to disperse right after my period, and come back again right before. I think the added hormones add a few pounds of weight gain and loss throughout the month, but more towards your TOM and less at other times.
You can still lose weight while on Yaz, just expect that your weight will bounce around a bit.
I was on Yaz and Yasmin they are made by the same company and Yaz is the cheaper version (thats what my Dr. told me). I was on one of these two for the past 4 years and last summer I went from a 34C to a 34E, the doctors ran test and nothing was wrong with me. They determined that at certain points in your life your body will react to the Birth control differently (keep in mind I am 24 so its not like i am going through puberty), so in my case I gain weight in my chest, however I am assuming it can have the same effect to other parts of your body. But to stop my chest from growing (i.e. the weight gain) my doctor switched me to Loestrin 24 and I am happy to say my chest stopped freaking growing.
My roommate gained 30 pounds. But yes, I do think it depends on each person.
I didn't gain weight per se...I just changed proportions. Ive always had small hips and on Yaz my butt was A LOT bigger and so were my boobs. My guy loved it but I couldn't stand being so curvy!! I got off it over a year ago after being on it for 2 years and everything is proportional again.
It really does depend. I know someone who lost a lot on it b/c she was never hungry. It didn't affect my appetite one way or the other. Some people get hungrier. YMMV.
YES !!! YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT !! WELL IT DEPENDS ON UR BOD ! BUT I SURE GAINED WEIGHT ! like 10 pounds! eating well and working out is the right thing to do when ur on any method of BC even doing that being on YAZ ! hasn't helped me at all so i'm on my last 2 pink pills and my period won't start until i'm beginging a new pack so i decided i'm getting off this fo sure! Honestly if you want to start a BC that won't make u gain weight I loved Yasmine!
OMG!!!! I HEAR YOU ! I'M GETTING OFF OF YAZ ! I FEEL THE SAME WAY FOGET THAT NOISE! LOL
Hey I've been on Yaz for 3 months and no weight gain. I actually lost weight.
Yes!! I have been on Yaz about 9 months and I have gained sooo much weight. I am always hungry!!! I try not to eat more than before I started taking Yaz but the weight just keeps coming. I am planning on stopping them after this last pack.
Good luck
