YAZ dilemna! Please help!!!!

Okay, so I have been taking Yaz for about 4 months now, and I switched ot it from Yasmin, because I heard it can really benefit skin complexion! Well, so far, that's semi true for me, but I really am getting annoyed by having the "spotting" in the middle of the pacK! and then when I get to the non-active pills i barely have a period at all!

Well, last pack, last month, i should say, I spotte din the middle like I normally would since taking it, and it only lasted a couple days, then at the end of the pack, I got my "real" period and it last a few days. Not too heavy, but I normally dont have heavy days.

Well, this month...I spotted again in the middle of my pack! and I've been bleeding since Tuesday night! It wasn't heavy, but I just started getting cramps, and i was really fatigued last few days too. I dont get it!

It seems, my body still isn't adjusted to the new BC, I mean it's more like I have all hte symptoms of my period, plus a "mock" period in the middle of my pack, and then only spot a little in the end. What's up with that?!?!?! I thought you only spot a few months until your body gets used to it? and what's up with having two periods practically in a month, and then getting the period symptoms twice a month too! Cravings, fatigue, mild cramping, oily skin, you know..the works!

Anyone else have these sypmtoms while taking Yaz? Does it finally get better? will I adjust eventually?

i was warned when i switched from yasmin to yaz that it isnt a pill for everyone. its a lower dosage than yasmin so many people do get spotting. some get past that and some dont. i spotted a bit the first month then never again. but if its happening often talk to your gyno because you jmay need a different pill. or, if it doesnt bother you too much wait and see :) it shouldnt be harming you, only inconveniencing you really...so its your choice

I second thyme828's theory about the lower dosage. I take Yasmin and it does wonders for my skin complexion! Maybe try going back on it and see which you feel more comfortable on :)

Good luck!

Over a year ago I also was on Yaz, and had similiar symptoms.  I contacted Bayer....It was an allergic reaction to Yaz, because I was a "monster", I mean EXTREMELY moody with this birth control!  I would ask your doctor to discontinue it.

Thanks all for your suggestions.  yeah, I think I will take a little bit from everyones post, and a) give it one more month to get used to. b) keep track of symptoms c) contact my doc to ask to switch back to yasmin if I'm not satisfied  :)  I didn't experience the great skin as much on Yasmin, though, the whole point in me switching was for a better complexion, but I guess now with me running more and drinking more water, my impurities are coming out and i'm not seeing much difference with that.  I spotted a bit yesterday, and that would be a total of 5 days bleeding!  That's a lot for me, I normally have spotting , then 3 regular days.  Maybe next month everythings will catch up, otherwise I'm making that call!  thanks guys!

When I switched to a low-dosage birth control pill (not Yaz) my gyno warned me that with heavier women, there is a lot more spotting, but at my size I would be fine.  Perhaps that's the problem?  I'm not meaning to assume you're "heavier" or anything!  I take Loestrin and I like it a lot...I'd just talk to your doctor about maybe switching to something else.

I have to agree with the rest of the girls.  Its one of the many lines of small print in the paperwork that comes with it.  Im still on Yasmin and have no real desire to try out a low dose.  I think you're right giving it one more month, but you're probably going to want to get a hold of your doc and let them know that its just not working for you and you need to either get another type of low dose or go back on Yasmin.

You're not the only person that's having problems with it.  I know about 4 other girls that are having pretty much the same issues as you.  They all have either already switched or are going to sometime soon.

I had many problems on Yaz.. I gained weight.. couldn't lose it despite reducing my calorie intake... I had great skin but the weight gain was horrible. I also had problems wearing my contact lenses, had problems with depression, my period was never right  (spot for a monday and tuesday then nothing till the first sunday of my next pack) and spent a large amount of time with my stomach hurting. Turns out it was all Yaz related.  Two days after I stoped taking it I started feeling better.. no more stomach pain... and the weight is starting to come off... I'm going back to Ortho Tri Cyclen.

Not all meds work for all people... I agree with others that you should talk to your doctor.

I had posted my Yaz experience before I saw this thread. Below is what I said in that post.. just sharing...

HI All,

I went on Yaz about 2 1/2 months ago.

For the first four weeks.... no problems. I wasn't a moody pain in the butt and I felt ok.  I noticed a little weight gain but I thought I was just not eating right.

By the Sixth week I stepped on the scale and found that I had put on 10 pounds.

I went back on my nutrition plan and began walking. I went from 2200 calories a day to 1400 -1500 calories a day. I did this for a month...I lost no weight at all.

I did a little research and found several forums where women were talking about how they gained weight and couldn't take it off... or they maintained their weight but no matter how much they exercised or ate right they couldn't take weight off.  I would say 80% of them lost weight once they came off Yaz. Many in the first month off.

This is my first week off of Yaz and I must say I am already starting to feel better. I'm not tired all the time and to see the number of times I'm going to the bathroom you would think I took a diaretic.

I know Yaz works great for some people... but it definately didn't cut it for me.. but it definately didn't for me. I'm going back to Ortho Tri Cyclen.  I just wanted to share my experience so that if there is someone else out there going thru this.. know that you are not alone and that if you have these symptoms you need to see your doctor and most likely change the pill you are taking.

Some meds work great for some people.. some don't..

I am a former yaz user AND LET ME TELL YOU... it messed me up.

Good things:

I had incredibly clear skin.

My usual heavy periods turned into light... barely there period.

No cramps or PMS.

Bad things:

It turned me into an emotional basket case.  My boyfriend would call and tell me about his day and I'd start crying.

Sex drive=non exisitant.  I was like a deadfish... which is NOT like me at all.

I gained 10 pounds, was eating the same as normal and couldn't lose it.

I've been off Yaz for the last 2 months and I've lost the 10 pounds that I gained, my sex drive is BACK and in full force and so are my horrible periods.  However, I'll deal with the cramps to keep my sanity.

I'm surprised by the many negative effects of yaz reported here. I have been on it for more than a year now, and only recently have a had a little trouble with spotting, surprising at time but nothing frightening. It is VERY sensitive to taking it EXACTLY at the same time every single day and missed days, so you have to be careful, which I'm not sometimes. No big difference in skin complexion or weight for me,  unlike with ortho tri-cyclen lo. actually I've lost weight (15-17 lbs.) in the past two or three months. And i've had no mood swings, like I did on the patch. I guess it's just everyone has to find their own. It's frustrating because as you get older your hormones changes, so every year or two years you could need a different RX because of the side effects that surface due to changes in your body. I initially started with the patch because my periods, cramps, blaoting moods were AWFUL. yaz is okay for me, i find that people who have problems with the same kinds of birth control have more success with the same kinds too, in many cases. hope this helps!

i had an opposite problem with loestrin 24...i didnt get my period for 5 months (it was great and all) but kinda freaked me out and it wasnt normal..so i switched to ortho tri cyclen lo and i love it maybe you should try it.
