Welcome to the YCCers: What did YOU eat today thread for the week starting the 18th of Feb, to the 25th of Feb 2009!

After various issues with the former "What did YOU eat today?" thread involving need for constant post deletion thanks to undereaters, and it generally being outdated, we've decided to start a new WDYET? thread for YCCers every week. Why? Because this way, it will be easier for us mods to work against those that post violations whilst still allowing you YCCers to post your menus (provided they meet the thread rules). It's also been updated to allow not just for teens, but YCCers generally. 

But to avoid the problems that caused the last WDYET? thread to be locked, be aware of these thread rules BEFORE you post:

1) Any menu that does not total or appear to total at least 1500 calories for a female under 21 or 1800 for a male under 21 will be removed. Please remember the minimum guidelines for a female and male under 21 are as above and are the sedentary minimums; if you work out, or are not very short and very small you will need more than this. Consumption of less than this comes with a great many related dangers, even if it is only by 100 or 200 calories and can stunt growth and development in the long run. To work out what you need, remember CC's tools are inaccurate for under 21's and so use this calculator instead: http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html as you are still growing. Yes, even in the later years - there's more going on inside of you that you simply can't see. And if the numbers are confusing you or you'd like help with meal ideas and calorie breakdowns feel free to PM me! I'm happy to help with the maths if it means that no one is starving themselves unduly.

2) If you are older than 21 please make this known before you post your intake. The minimum intake for a sedentary female over 21 is 1200 calories per day. However, I ask you state your age simply because I do not want to get you confused with someone under 21 and delete a menu unknowingly. If you don't state your age, and your menu is clearly below 1500, it will be removed per Rule 1.

3) Try to keep it positive, please. Ranting is okay but remember you can rant in your journals - and it's usually a better place to rant, as you can moderate your own journals rather than write something up here. Furthermore, please remember one day of "crummy" eating isn't going to hurt you, and watch use of the word "binge" - binge eating is a very serious problem, not someone eating an extra couple hundred calories or up to maintanance calories one day, or a large meal, or going for seconds. Still, try to keep it positive over negative, please! :]

And do remember - there will be teens here with differing goals to you. Gaining, maintaining, losing. Don't compare yourself to others - so long as you are healthy and eating enough for what you need, while not in violation of any of these rules, it doesn't matter what anyone else does! Be selfish! x]

4) Don't post a menu if it isn't complete. I'm personally tired of seeing people putting their breakfast, and then a whole menu of "will update" but never updating it. Even if it means you post your menu at the end of every day.

Today

Breakfast: egg and cheese biscut, diet pepsi

Snack: coffee made with cream and equal, cigarette

Lunch: half of a HUGE veggie burger, half of a huge portion of fries, diet pepsi

Snack: coffee, cigarette

Dinner: Other half of lunch

Snack: Some type of fruit and some baby carrots

Later: liqour

Definitley not balanced at all....but then again my weekends never are.

crystallised ginger? is that raw ginger with sugar covering it? my boyfriend loves that stuff but i just can't bring myself to eat it. ginger chews are a different story. i love those things. :)

how many calories does a cigarette have anyway?
i didn't think it had any but then again i've never eaten one so i haven't looked into it.

yea, you're definitely going to need to have some coffee or something strong to wash that down.

i haven't been posting regularly  as of late. i've been kinda busy. this is for yesterday.

breakfast

organic free range poached egg; cheerios w/ granola and soy milk; zenergize tablet

snack
half grapefruit; coffee w/ soy milk

lunch
wild alaskan salmon burger on whole wheat w/ tomato, spinach, onion, veganaise and spicy mustard; vegetable soup; baby carrots

dinner
large spinach salad w/ tomato, onion, zucchini, summer squash, mushroom, radish, florida avocado, crushed rosemary and olive tricuits and homemade vinegarette; mint iced tea

snack
vanilla soy icecream w/ raw almonds. dark chocolate chips and warmed crunchy peanut butter

very yummy day.

B: shredded wheat with blueberries, white chocolate pb, and skim milk

L: hummus and veggie wrap; yogurt; 2 apples; steamed asparagus; raspberry fruit leather

S: ginger snap Larabar

D: oatmeal with butternut squash and white chocolate pb; baked tofu

S: chocolate chip Clif bar spread with white chocolate pb and warmed in the micro

Breakfast: oatmeal cooked in skim milk with fresh strawberries and half an ounce of almonds, yogurt with wheat germ, coffee

Lunch: almond butter and banana sandwich on whole wheat bread, an apple, skim milk

Snack: kashi bar

Dinner: mahi mahi on a bed of steamed spinach, with a side of steamed broccoli and green beans

Snack: yogurt with strawberries, a banana, and peanut butter

Breakfast: banana bread oatmeal w/peanut butter mixed in, green tea w/splenda

Lunch: honey whole wheat bagel w/reduced fat honey almond cream cheese

Dinner: eggplant parmesan, mashed butternut squash, whole wheat spaghetti w/arugula

Snack: part skim mozarella string cheese, a banana

Breakfast: 1 cup bran flakes with 1/2 cup milk (I read the label after pouring it, and it's 3.5% MF!)

Lunch: Tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread, tiny tangerines

Snack: An apple, half a toasted bagel.. and ~15ish M&Ms


Dinner: Braised pork spareribs (kinda like cha siu, but saucier), boiled bok choy on steamed white rice.

i thought/think it was kinda funny/weird that you included cigarettes to you snacks like it was food. so...i thought it was kinda funny.

Breakfast: part skim mozzarella string cheese, banana

Lunch: whole wheat wrap w/ hummus, bean sprouts, carrots, lettuce and cucumber

Snack: sugar free red bull

Dinner: salmon, sweet potatoes, vanilla frozen yogurt

Snack: two glasses of white wine & a banana

breakfast
kashi honey sunshine cereal w/ soy milk; organic free range boiled egg; half grapefruit; coffee; zenergize tablet

lunch
spinach salad w/ tomato, green onion, cucumber, radish, mushroom, garbanzo beans, crushed rosemary and olive oil triscuits, soy mozzarella cheese and homemade vinegarette; vegetable soup

dinner
original vegan boca burger on whole wheat w/ tomato, onion, spinach, black olive, sauteed mushroom, veganaise and spicy mustard; homemade sweet potato fries

snack
raw almonds; fancy raisins (this is really what they are called. they are all different colors and taste waaaay better than regular raisins. they aren't much more expensive either. i'll never eat a regular raisin again!); baby carrots w/ spicy cilantro hummus

Haa, when_I_fly: Yes, that's crystalised ginger. The G+Bs, though... I'm so pissed. They've started adding whole milk powder to the bars. I felt SO ill.

Fancy raisins... sultanas? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raisin

Also, it's sort of a comfort to me that the thread has slowed... a lot of the posters in the old thread were undereating starving teens. D;

L: whole wheat wrap filled with dark chocolate pb, honey, and banana; yogurt; 2 apples

S: 1 oz peanuts

D: whole wheat spaghetti with broccoli, mushrooms, pine nuts, tofu, and a "cream" sauce (milk and mashed navy beans)

S: kiwi passionfruit lime yogurt with dried apricots

oh, i'm sorry, that really sucks. i've never actually had a green and black's chocolate bar. i usually get the endangered species bars. they are really good and have a lot of varieties. there is some with blueberry, mint, crisps, cocoa nibs, almond...well you get the picture.

yea, i guess my raisins are sultanas. it just says 'fancy raisins' on my bag though. haha. they are different colours too. they have so much more flavour.

yea, i'm glad that this thread isn't filled with people that are starving themselves. but i do wish that there were more posters. i know there are some people that ate healthy and have stopped posting. :( i guess that means they are spending more time in the real world though. which is good.

Mmm, home cooking..  Definitely not a calorie-counting day for me! :D

 

Breakfast: Bran flakes, milk, a handful of almonds

Snack: I basically putterred around all morning nibbling on stuff..  A bunch more almonds, a piece of dried mango, one phoenix roll (pastry with shredded coconut and granulated sugar inside, tasty)

Lunch: Shanghai fried noodles and pan-fried cheong fun.  On the bright side, it wasn't as icky-oily as the stuff you get eating out.. but that just means I'll eat moaar :P

Dinner: Going over to my cousin's.  Her mother-in-law's been teaching her how to cook Korean food, apparently, so we get to try her japchae and ribs, mm.

 

horrible day:

B: a few drinks of a banana smoothie

L: Japanese Pan Noodles w/ shrimp

D: (went to a party for my basketball team) chili spaghetti w/ cheese, 5 breadsticks and a small salad

S: 4 snickerdoodles and a chocolate cookie

S: sample of low fat manicotti, 3 Hershey kisses

I'm supposed to go to benihanas later with some friends but i'm wayyy too full from the chili. I wasn't going to to eat but it all looked too good. I'm feeling pretty guilty now though. o well..i worked out this morning and I'm going to a spinning class tomorrow morning so I figure as long as I stop now I'm in the clear. I ate about 2,100 and burned 2,500

  • B-fast [ Eggs, Banana, & Cheerios ]
  • Snack [ Spinach & Diced Tomatoes, milk, apple ]
  • Lunch [ Protein Shake, PB Toast & baby carrots ]
  • Dinrar [ Zatarain's Red beans & Rice, Sweet Peas ]
  • Snack [ Cinnamon Roll & Hot Coco ]

when_i_fly_and_look_down - Where do you get your zenergize tablets? I'm tempted to go try 'em. :0

b: big container of orange juice, starbucks perfect oatmeal with mixed nuts

l: two slice of sbarro's cheese pizza, garden salad with french dressing

d: california roll and tuna roll
