go for a walk. Go take a shower. Go for a drive. Go work out. chew gum. do makeup. Give yourself a manicure. Put in a really sad war movie or something. ANYTHING to get yourself away from the food. Also, what are your stats? If we know that we may be able to explain your binging. Another thing is junk food doesn't keep you full for very long. So next time you get hungry, stop, think, are your REALLY hungry, or is it just your appetite or your mind? If it is actual hunger, eat A LOT of veggies or fruit. hope this helps.

swimchick is right

you can't binge if you can remove yourself from the situation.  Call a friend, or come on here, post a thread that simply says you're trying so hard to stop a potential binge and this very supportive group will come flocking!

The hardest thing about food is you can't just quit like you can with alcohol or cigarettes.  You have to keep eating to live.  You have to face it everyday walking that fine line between enough and too much.

We're here for you.

I find that nothing starts a binge streak like being too restrictive with your calories.   If I eat under 1800 cals for too many days in a row it will turn into a hellacious 2-3 day binge.   My body gets too damned hungry and I lose all will power.

anyway what ever done is done no crying over a spilled milk rite? prolly i will fast tomorrow that'll help me settle down i guess...

that u guys for the support :)...

i used to binge a lot and this is what helped me (i lost 3 lbs in the 1st week of doing it!!)

try to eat a really filling breakfast. this is what i like to have:

  • start it off with either a grapefruit or an orange or a fruit with a lot of water that makes you full
  • fry 2 eggs in butter (not any artificial stuff, butter has fat which leaves you full longer)
  • have one or two thin slices of ham or bacon.

yes, it may sound like a heart attack on a plate, but its delicious and leaves you full for hours!!!

5 hrs later, eat a good lunch until you are full:

  • once again, have a fruit with water to make you full or unsweetened fruit juice
  • have a piece of lean meat or fish prepared however you like it (grilled, baked, poached, boiled, etc)
  • make a huge green salad and eat as much of the lettuce as you need to make you full. use a sugar free dressing (i love olive oil and red wine vinegar with salt and pepper!!)

5 hrs later, eat a good dinner until you are full:

  • again, a fruit with lots of water or unsweetened fruit juice
  • another piece of lean meat or fish however you like it prepared. if you use a gravy, make sure its not amde with flour or corn starch.
  • have another large green salad with sugar free dressing (as much lettuce as you need to fill you up)
  • put red green and yellow veggies into your salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, bell peppers) but NO corn/potatoes/sweet potatoes!!!

Right before bed, have a glass of tomato juice or skimmed milk. that will give you enough satiety before bed, and if you drink the milk, your body will use the protien to build muscle!!!!

i hope this helps!!

Please DO NOT fast!!!!  That will only lead you to binge more, and on whatever you can grab.  It will not help!  What happened today (and the day before) is done.  Tomorrow is another day.  It's okay to be a little disappointed/frustrated, but take it as an experience so you can know how to work through it when it happens again.  B/c it certainly may.

I've just lost 10 lbs, but for the past week, all I want is chocolate (& Easter hasn't helped).  I did indulge too much, but there is absolutely no point in starving yourself to try and 'make up' for the extra calories.  It will blow up in your face.  The other posters have some great suggestions, I think I will try some of them for my binging issues.

Keep good snacks around if you feel you have to snack (I know I need something in between meals), some protein always helps me.

Good luck, and keep your spirits high!  :P
