Yes... Another gallbladder question. Please post

Quote  |  Reply

Hello everyone,

I read plenty of posts relating to gallbladder surgery.  What I haven't found is someone who had to take it out without experiencing stones or gallbladder attacks.  Basically, mine is functioning at 11%, but there was no mention of stones.  Also, i do experience the "other issues, and discomforts", but I've never had a gallbladder attack.  Are my doctor's being to hasty in taking it out???

That's a question for your doctor, really.   If you're in quite a lot of pain and your gallbladder is inflamed then I'd assume they think you're better off without it.... even if there are no stones.   Doctors don't tend to do invasive surgery unless it's necessary.

Thanks! I will hound them a little more.  I guess I'm just nervous.

I had no stones or sludge, but very little function. When they removed my GB, it was surrounded by fluid and inflamed, due to blockages further down the line. If they want to take it out, let them. You don't need it, and if it is causing you discomfort/health issues, you're better off without it. It WILL cause more problems if it is not removed. It's not a very serious surgery, and most people are back at home in less then 24 hours post-procedure. Good luck!

If you read up on Gall Bladder, it does serve a purpose and one can eat better, easier with it intact.

You may not have stones but a Cleanse may help it and the pathway.

I had stones and removed the stones, later verified by MRI, and feel great. I do the Cleanse about every 2 years to keep my G.B. clean and the pathway clean. YMMV

Good luck with whatever you do.

The surgery is quick, simple and safe. I had it and it didn't change my life at all except for stopping the attacks.

Honestly there is no real downside to getting the surgery, if there is inflammation or other problems with your gallbladder. Some people can't eat quite as much spicy or fatty food afterward, but considering we are on here to pursue a healthier lifestyle, that shouldn't be a problem. :)  (I myself can eat the same as before, no change, no consequence).

i didn't have stones, but i occasionally had bad attacks. more than anything, i just constantly felt nauceous and couldn't eat.

mine was functioning at 20%, so obviously you're worse off than i am. if you and your doctor feel that it's time to take it out, i don't see any downside really. i'm much better off now!! your gallbladder's functioning will probably continue to decrease and you'll probably end up getting it out eventually .. so you might as well get it out now while you're young! i know that a lot of women have to get theirs out after giving birth, so i don't think that's something you'd wanna deal with.

i feel much better now. i can finally eat again and i DONT FEEL NAUCEOUS! it's great.
