Yes Coffee or no Coffee???
I am new to calorie count and wanting to develop a healthy eating habit. I need to lose around 70lbs. I am basing my eating around the 10 superfoods. I have weened myself off coffee. But it was about the only vice I had. I am hearing conflicting stories about coffee. Some say it is good. High in anti oxidents, caffines good for weight loss. Others say its best not to drink it. I am very happy to start drinking it again if its good for me![]()
Your comments would be appreciated!!!
Many thanks
Helen

I drink coffee straight up, black no sugar, so I don't worry about calories from coffee. I tried giving it up a couple of times, but just couldn't. My mornings aren't the same without a cup of coffee, I even tried decaff, but it just wasn't the same. I got headaches when giving it up, which should tell me
"I shouldn't be drinking something that gives me a headache when I give it up"
But I didn't listen. I only drink 1-2 cups a day and the rest of my day I drink herbal tea.
OK - just curious, what are th e 10 superfoods you are referring too....i'm new! BTW - don't give up coffee...you'll be miserable. I agree with closetdieter.
YES COFFEE!! I love it- I try to avoid it throughout the day. I usually drink just one cup when I wake up. I will occasionally use milk, but it's usually just a tbsp of half and half (that's only 20 calories). Starts my day right!
truvia! and flavored splenda! yummm
I am having a coffee with skin milk first thing in the morning and wow has it up'ed my energy level when I work out. Huge difference. Most Im having is two a day.
test
Always coffee. Black, no sugar. Fresher the better. 11th superfood.
coffee is amazing. ive been drinking it since i was about 5, i know stunted growth haha not every day back then, my grandpap would just let me sip his and make it myself, meaning lots of cream and sugar haha but i just dont think i could ever give it up! i used to drink it with splenda and skim milk, but i love my coffee so much that i allow it to be my little indulgence. i still use the splenda b/c i can tell no difference between that and sugar, but i allow myself some half and half. i only use 40-50 calories worth, and im not really a big breakfast person so this helps add some breakfast calories. and its the best part of my morning =) im not a morning person either haha.
have black coffeeeeee with sugar free syrup and splenda and cinnammon!
i love it.
it starts my day along with oatmeal.
Hey guys i know about this new thing it taste great it a new Premium protein creamer that you put in coffee It called Javanu &nb sp; to buy this great product go to Javanu.com
Coffee is amazing! I couldn't live without it. I just take mine with a low fat milk and splenda which reduces the calories alot. Cinnamon is also great to mix in as it supports weight loss and improves insulin function.
i LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee... i have a keurig brewer at home that i absolutely love! i use equal (yes i know, artificial) and skim milk.
For almost a year, I was drinking coffee pretty regularly (about 32oz's a per morning and sometimes a cup at night). I used milk (or creamer) and sugar (or splenda when I had it).
I recently started counting my calories and getting healthy all around. I quit smoking cold turkey. I haven't had a single cigarette in 2 weeks and don't even crave one anymore. My next vice was coffee, so I wanted to quit that too. Well, I haven't drank coffee in a week. Instead, I drink herbal tea with one package of splenda and I LOVE IT!! There are so many different kinds and flavors you can try AND you still have your bit of caffeine there so you don't get the headaches. I really love Tazo Lotus Decaffeinated Green Tea though. It has lots of antioxidants and it's real yummy!
There are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to consuming coffee. Several reports have stated that coffee may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. Another fact about coffee is that it’s high in caffeine (duh!).
I recommend herbal tea. Seriously, herbal tea is the way to go, especially if you’re on a diet. Herbal tea tastes disgusting (I apologize) but it’s really good for you! If you can’t tolerate herbal tea, then go for green tea. If you dislike green tea, try hot chocolate. There is no law stating that coffee is bad for you. You can drink one cup every day and still lose weight. I am not going to be a hypocrite and say I don’t drink coffee because I do (once in a month, rarely). I am more of a tea person.
Coffee is bad for your teeth too. My mother has replaced cigarettes with coffee. Let me tell you how BAD her teeth look. God bless her though. Now she’s planning to go to India and get her teeth fixed. Coffee tastes great! But try to drink it on the odd occasion.

Mmmm, coffee. I used to drink it with cream and sugar. I now have it with skim milk and splenda.
I'm doing the same thing, i drink it with splenda and skim milk. But i occasionally add that hint of cinnamon. When i begin to feel really bummed, i mix the skim milk with cream, makes me feel dangerous!
I think that every diet when done to an extreme never works, if you like a cup of coffee is fine, have it! but use skim milk, and if you can use some splenda. I used to love coffee but when I decided to lose the weight I started to drink tea, now I love tea! My husband lost over 60 pounds and he drinks a cup of coffee everyday, he say that without he can't keep the diet going.
I like my coffee the way i like my men, Tall, BLack and BItter. LOL. KIdding but I use to drink my coffee with heavy creamer and sugar but Ive switched to drinking it black, Sometimes it hits me how bitter it is, but the more i sip it the more use to it i get :D plus it is basicaly no calories so i dont stress about it
I love coffee, have mine at breakfast made half with semi-skim milk too all within my calories, and a cereal based product to combine with the dairy for a complete protein. I don't drink it otherwise, though I do occasionally sneak a caffeine pill (generic version of Pro Plus) if work runs late and I want the hit without the cals - probably not ideal but it's an informed choice as I see it, I never drink sodas or anything else caffeinated.
PS @ thyroidprincess, reminds me of a joke I saw, "I like my coffee like I like my men... ground up in small bags in the freezer!" lol
I'm so happy about this thread! I've only been a coffee drinker since I started university and once I started the weight loss plan, I switched to Stevia and a dash of skim instead of cream &sugar. Now that classes have ended, I've been killing myself trying not to drink any and this thread made me realize how stupid I've been! I read some stupid article about it stalling weight loss but you guys made me see the light!
I tried 2 cups of tea a day but that definitely didn't do the trick. I'm happy to have my coffee back! It's frusterating because everything about weight loss is so contradicting, some say cardio is key, others say strength training is key. Some say it's all about only eating certain foods, others say you can eat everything in moderation.
I realize now that you can eat absolutely anything at anytime as long as you burn more than you consume. Moderation is key but it's all about eating less and moving more.
I drink coffee every morning with fat free half and half- no sugar. I drink 16 oz. daily and it doesn't effect my daily calorie goal. So ideas: go with powered cream less calories then half and half/cream, there is even flavored ones that have the sweet taste to it and less calories. In my opinion I hate skim milk in my coffee I think it dilutes the taste, I would go without than with skim milk.
