Yet another activity level question

Quote  |  Reply

I want to be sure that I have the right activity level so that I am not over or underestimating my deficit and burn level.  For significant chunks of the day, i sit at my desk.  However, I also do alot of walking around campus, to and from my vehicle (parking is a prime commodity in my town and I usually have to park about 1/4 mile from wherever I am going), and housework when I get home.  Additionally, several times a week I go on a 2 mile jog or do a Jillian Michaels video.  Am I light or moderate activity?

Thanks everyone!

I should add a detail, here:

When I jog, even though it is only about 30 minutes, I REALLY push myself.  I do sprint intervals, which is why 2 miles takes me 30 minutes because I alternate jogging moderately, sprinting, jogging slowly, and recovery walking for just a few seconds.  By the time I am done, I am extremely winded and exhausted.  My thought was that I should put my activity level to light and add jogging in separately... any thoughts?

The best idea I could think of is to use a mobile phone or stopwatch and record just how long you are walking to & fro and doing housework. If it adds up to more than 2 hours, you are doing moderate activity, if less, light activity. Factor in the intervals and workout video separately, this way you'll get an idea of how much you're burning doing the excercise which always makes me a little proud of myself :)

Great work on the regular excercise though, good to hear!
