I saw this study and eventhough it's a couple of years old I thought it was pretty interesting.  Here are some paragraphs from the study, but if you would like to read it all you can go to: http://www.statpub.com/open/136611.html

Yogurt Promotes Fat Loss MINNEAPOLIS - Mar 22/05 - SNS -- Dropping dairy products from the diet when trying to loss weight is bad idea because products such as yogurt help the body burn more fat, according to a study published in April issue of the International Journal of Obesity.

The study ?- submitted by lead researcher Michael Zemel, Ph.D., professor of nutrition at the University of Tennessee ?- found that individuals who included Yoplait Light as part of their weight loss plan lost significantly more weight compared to others who simply reduced calories. The yogurt eaters lost 22% more weight?an average of 14 pounds, 66% more body fat and 81% more trunkal (stomach) fat during the 12-week study.

"Not only did yogurt help the study participants lose more weight?the average weight loss was 14 pounds?they were about twice as effective at maintaining lean muscle mass," Zemel said. "This is a critical issue when dieting -- you want to lose fat, not muscle. Muscle helps burn calories, but it is often compromised during weight loss."

I'm in Ontario, Canada and can't find Yoplait Light at any of my local grocery stores.  Does anyone from Canada know where I can get them?

You can't go by US names.

Danone sells a zero fat yogurt. Silouete? Low fat low sugar.

Just look at the labels.

There is one brand that is horrible but I can't remember the name.
plus it probably doesn't HAVE to be yoplait light.  just look for a good non-fat or low-fat yogurt.  the study wasn't to demonstrate the effectiveness of yoplait light but that you should keep consuming dairy.
second that it probably doesn't have to be Yoplait ...   I don't know if Canada sells Dannon Light & Fit, but it's no fat, has active cultures and fair amount of protein and is 60 cals.

I wasn't much of a yogurt fan, but Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla is pretty good.  Sometimes it's even better if you cut up a kiwi and mix it in, or some raspberries - yum!
Silhouette and Silhouette Mousse are my faves, I have about two servings a day... haven't noticed my weight loss speeding up though...
I like Dannon Light and Fit Blueberry, and then I mix in a little less than 1/4 of a cup of dry oatmeal. It's yummy! :)
