what is a good weight for a healthy 4 yr old female?  (no known medical problems)  Is 70lbs overweight for a 4 year old? or is it considered healthy?  I know most kids have baby fat.

Ive seen a thing on tv once about child obesity as a form of child abuse.

I think the same thing about pets. my mom has a pickapoo dog less than a foot tall and weighs 40 pounds.  Shes slowly killing her dog......

I'd say that's overweight, I would think 40?

edit: here's a link, don't know her height so I couldn't do it myself

link

Here is a children's/teen BMI calculator.

Do you know how tall the 4 year old is?

I think the typical 4 year old is around 38"-42".

At 38" a healthy weight range for this particular girl would be from about 29-pounds to 34-pounds.

At 42" a healthy weight range for this particular girl would be from about 36-pounds to 42-pounds.

Edit:  Here is an article in regards to a 4 year old's growth.

"Kids at this age are still very physical, but they learn in a more focused and less hectic way than when they were younger. These kids typically gain about 4 pounds (1.81 kilograms) and grow about 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) per year."

no, i dont know how tall she is.

My son is 6 (tall for his age) and weighs 48lbs. In my opinion, regadless of height the child is most likely overweight.

it breaks my heart seeing her because I weigh about 144 give or take, and im a grown 28yr old.  Thats nearly 1/2 my weight. and shes only 4yrs old.

Its a girl that I work with... her daughter.
Is it the fat chick that hates you?  Just wondering.
Nope. LOL      this one has been at the shop for a while.  We get along pretty good.   I think the new girl has a little boy

Jewles, thanks for  making me feel a little better on this and the other post.  I needed that giggle.

bettypage... you dont know the half of it, unless you read my other thread already. LOL   OMG what an exhausing argument. LOL

I read it.  I'm just up working right now.  Blaaaaah

Can't sleep, but making good progress on my job's to do list.

i get the impression now that everyone thinks im a total snob.
Well, even if we all do think you're a snob we'll forget that we think that soon enough.

It's 4:20am.
lol its only 330 here.  I dont know what i was thinking trying to disect why someone i barely know cant display common courtesy. LOL  Im watching Squidbillies right now.

I would say yes, the child is over weight, and yes depending on the severity it can be seen as abuse, but I would keep your nose out, the child is bound to have a Doctor, and it is their responsibility to asses the child's health/welfare and if needs be report it. So although you may not like it in a situation like this it's best to mind your own.

I would think she is unless she's really tall (my son was 3' 11" at 4 yrs and 48 lbs and he had a little bit of a belly but not too bad).

My daughter is 4 1/2 - 40" and 40 lbs.  She is very slightly 'chunky'  I would barely call her that but she is short like me.  Yes, 70 lbs for even a tall 4 year old is VERY overweight.
