8 yr old girl raped..........parents critisize her and dont want her back!
this is one of the most horrible things i have ever heard. An 8 year old girl gets raped by 4 boys, and her father said he didnt want her back!.....all because of his culture back in west africa or something like that

I got teary-eyed reading this story earlier today. To be gang-raped at 8 years old is horrific, but then to have your family shun you on top of it is beyond my comprehension. While I know that it's often their cultural norm to do this to a woman who is raped, this is an 8 year old child.
I hope this poor little girl is able to recover from the dual loss of her innocence and her family.
I really want to comment on this but I'm at a total loss for words...
These people are monsters. The rapists, and the parents. Eff anyone who says "well that's their culture" I don't care. Some things should go deeper than what your society tells you.
............................................. ..................................
And people wonder why I hate people so much. ![]()
This made me nauseous.
I hate to think this, especially when the girl is already going through so much, but going back to a family with such an attitude, and in which there would most certainly not be an nurturing and healing environment, might not be a good idea in the first place.
And those boys - 9 to 14 years old - where do they get the idea to do such a thing to another human being?
I hope that little girl finds some loving arms to hold her, and a safe place to find peace.
Good.
Maybe this girl can get adopted by a foster family that will treat her nicely and show some compassion. If that father would treat a child like that, he should not be raising her, in my opinion. I would rather her grow up with a nice foster family that could send her to a therapist to heal, rather than let her stay with a family who will make the girl end up hating herself.
F*** those people.....

Age means nothing. Sometimes I think you're (male or female) born a rapist, murderer, abuser etc.
This story made me very sick, why can't child services get that poor girl out of that family? She's clearly going to have to live with this PLUS the emotional abuse from her messed up family. This is all very WTF-worthy and makes me very very angry. People like them make me sick, WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT TO BRING THAT ON THEMSELVES?! Why do people even THINK that? That little girl needs to go into a loving family where she can hopefully at least partially overcome this. They're not even Africa, they're in the freakin' US.
How does that bring shame to their family? If anything the rapist(s) is(are) the one bringing shame to not only to the victim's family but to their own as well.
Eight years old... :( Not right.
Good god.
She's eight years old! How in the world can someone look at an eight year old child and go, "yup, this is most certainly her fault. Look at her pigtails, she was asking for it." And why isn't anyone stepping up to help her? Do they really think she's going to deal with the situation in a household where her father is, literally, going to treat her like she's some sort of whore? And I doubt her mother is going to have much say in such a household.
And those kids...I guess we're really going to hell in a hand basket, because I didn't even know about intercourse until highschool. Nine years old? NINE!? I know the oldest was 14, but what household did those kids come from where they would even plan something like that and actually go through with it?
Pfft, I'm just shocked. x_x
"blamed her for bringing shame on the family."
Yeah, because SHE'S the one who shamed them.... I bet no one in the whole community will ever make eye contact with that family again.
At least she's in protective services now.
You know what - it'll be hard to deal with for a long time - possibly for her whole life - but she'll be better off without her whackjob family.
Investigators said the boys lured the girl to an empty shed on July 16 under the pretense of offering her gum.
Wow...luring with candy really does work... o.O
Besides that, I hope the child finds a loving non-crazy household... maybe its better for her to get out of that family?
The really sad part is that this idea of shame being put on the victim is not just in foreign cultures, in America too we often put shame on women or girls for being rapped or sexually assaulted. Just think of all the times that girls are told they are dressing too slutty, so they are "asking to get raped". This makes me sick!!
As a victim of sexual assault myself, I have had to work hard to get rid of the shame, even though my situation was very different and people did not blame me, the shame is always there. There is always a feeling of "damaged goods". I hope they find good counseling for this young girl! She'll need it!

It happens more often than people give credit to, I think. At my last job I had kids who had molested other kids or had been molested by other kids (usually siblings or cousins or something).
And it doesn't matter if they aren't in Africa now. They're from Africa and that's their culture. People don't just drop their cultures as soon as they move to the US.
This idea that a girl/woman being raped brings shame to the family is something that NGOs in Africa are working to change. In South Africa alone, women have a higher chance of being raped more than once in their life than ever learning how to read...
I hope this girl gets a really great foster family (though I don't hold the US foster care system in very high regard) and I also hope her family realizes what a huge mistake they've made.
When I heard about this I felt disgusted.
This happened near my home town. Another situation where certian cultures view women as chattle

At least now she is being cared for by people who care and don't blame her.
Very, very disturbing. I am very pissed at the family especially the father.. Wish I could slap him and tell him to wake the frak up! I agree with others, perhaps she is better off but I do hope one of her family members has come to visit and somewhat comfort her because after an incident like that, you want a familiar face, ya know? Sheesh.
Deeply disturbing. Disturbing that four young boys would dream up and carry out such an attack. Disturbing that the cultural attitude of the father will haunt that little girl the rest of her life.
Offering up a prayer for her emotional and physical recovery.
Unfortunately it's just their culture. Just like in Asian countries, they eat dogs and probably some other quite disturbing things, and here, if someone ate a dog.. well, we'd put them in a mental institution for being insane.
I'm not saying it's okay to treat a child like that, especially after such a traumatizing incident. However, they don't know that what they're doing is wrong.. which I find to be the most sad part of it all.
Holy S***!
That father should be kidnapped & raped repeatedly for a few hours, then placed in an African jail. Hello? This is America! We have laws here. when you get citizenship in this county you vow to abide by its laws. That f*** should be deported, and his wife, if she stands by her husband! That girl deserves better. I hope she is adopted by a couple who understand her plight and can really help her, a rich, American couple.
Man, humans suck. Effing knuckle-draggers!
