32 yr old Newbie looking for friends! Hi! :)
Hello Everyone! I'm Emily. Just started this thing a week ago. Trying to get some friends on here for support, motivation, and encouragement.
I have 40 pounds to lose. I started this thing a week ago and have already dropped 4! Probably mostly water weight.
Anyhowz...I have done the gain/lose thing several times in my life...so I know that I can do this! I am very optimistic & super excited about starting CC! This is just what I needed to jump start my goals to a helathier lifestyle! I loathe calorie counting, but it is necessary for me to keep a log otherwise I will rack up pounds. Glad to find something that is so easy!
I'm back. The operation went well. I am still a little sore but much better today.
Good Job on the 2 pound loss Emily. We have had so much snow here that we could send some your way. On the 17th we got about 8 inches and we are suppose to get about another 4-7 inches today. At game time yesturday(Packers) the temp was -4 with a wind chill of -24. It has been like that for a couple days but today we are suppose to get up to 10. That should be a nice warm up. We get the snow Sam but we cannot really enjoy it too much when it is -20 out. I would much rather have the rain right now at least it would be above freezing.
Hi Tammy glad the op went well hope your not sore for too long.
See your point about the snow dont think I would enjoy it much at -20 although at the minute we've had so much rain we're on flood warnings, luckily for me we live up a big hill so no chance of our house flooding. But my sons school playground looked more like a swimming pool this afternoon.
Hi Emily...my name is Maria. I am 33 and I have been struggling with my weight after having kids. I am here hoping to make friends so I can get motivated and have the support. I just became a new member as of yesterday but I have actually been watching what I eat for about a month now. Right now I have lost 12lbs, 8 of which I had gained on my vacation this past December. I am looking to lose another 26-28 lbs with hopes that I can do it thru here. What is really hard for me is keeping up with the exercise. My husband just bought me a treadmill about 3 weeks ago and I jog on it at least 4x a week for at least 35-45 mins. The problem with me is that I was gaining the weight slowly for the past 14 yrs and thought it was ok because it would be, "Oh it's only a couple a pounds, no biggie!". This is what I always said to myself not realizing that the pounds would add up after the yrs. So I said to myself no more I need to be at a healthy weight, look good, and feel good. So with this said I hope that I can add all you ladies as my friends. & nbsp;
Hey everyone! I am so glad to see this thread is still in motion! ![]()
Cat and Maria - welcome to CC! Congrats to you both on your current losses and good luck on losing more!!! I'm stoked to make some new friends!
Cat - Like YJK says, I wouldn't go anywhere under 1200. I also find myself pretty close to 1200 as well on most days because my diet has changed so much. I am somewhat active myself but list my activity as sedentary, then I log additional activities onto my activity log. As for time, I think most of us can relate to that. I try to fit fitness in by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, park far away at the grocery store, carry bags back to the car instead of using the cart, etc. It all adds up! Sounds like you are already on the right track! Good Luck!
Maria - 12 lbs in a month is quite an accomplishment. Sounds like you are on he right track also! You will find a ton of motivation here, so just keep up and you will do fine! 4x a week at 35-45 minutes is quite a bit of exercise. So, you are doing great! I am lucky to get that much in on my elliptical! Also, you didn't gain the weight overnight, so you are not going to lose it overnight! The best way to lose it is slowly to insure that you keep it off.
As for me...I'm super excited because I just got a new job offer! My hours will be 11am-8pm (great since I am not a morning person!), so I will bypass the horrible Atlanta traffic AND will be able to start doing my workouts in the morning consecutively! I sooo struggle to work out at 7 am now! So, this will be perfect! The scale was at 173.2 this morning and I long to get into the 160's! Seems like forever since I've seen that number! My measurements are also this weekend...so I am looking forward to that!
Keep it up girls! WE can do this!!!!
Hiya Cat and Maria glad you have joined us. This place is amazing I always manage to find the support I need whwnever I need it.
Emily congrats on the new job, hope you enjoy it. Must agree I'm not a morning person either but have to get up at 6 am to get kids up and out to school.
Doing my measurements on Monday and looking forward to that my weigh in this week cheered me up too lost another 2 lbs bringing me down to 180 which is the lowest I've been for a few years.
Good luck to everyone
Hi sammii08. Glad to join the group! I am glad to hear that your at a lower weight than you've ever been before. Congrats!!
Emily- thanks for your support and movitation. Being here will help us ALL in reaching our goal weight. Hurraaaay!
Hey Girls! I just wanted to check in and see how everyone was doing! I've been super busy this past week wrapping up my old job and starting my new position. Which I LOVE btw! They even have a gym on the bottom level open 24 hours for employees at no additional cost! AWESOME! This is just what I needed!
I haven't taken my measurements as of yet, and need to get on the ball and do so. TOM was here last week, and so I was trying to wait for that to finish. I haven't dropped any more weight and have been slack on exercising the past week...but I haven't gained which is good.
I hope everyone else is doing well and staying healthy! Have a wonderful remainder of the week!!!
Oh and Sammi...CONGRATS on your all time low! Keep it up girl!!!
Hi Ladies,
So I’ve been going to my spin classes thinking that this was the perfect way to lose weight fast. I really want to hit the cardio so I can lose the bulge and then worry about the toning later. Has anyone else had success doing it that way? Just curious. I bulk SOOOO easily, so for me, just doing spinning I’ve gained 4 pounds. Awesome. I know it’s muscle or water, but it really freaks me out. Or am I building too much muscle and should turn down the resistance in class? Just curious as this is my first run with the classes and so far I’ve averaged 800 calories a workout! WOW!! Also the knees are starting to really hate me. Not sure if I’m spinning wrong or just doing too much too quickly. Feeling like the eating during the week’s getting better, but dating and going out on the weekend’s have been really tough. No new guy wanted to see you eat like a bunny when you look like a cow…lol, right? Anyway, hopefully it’ll get easier or I’ll have to work out extra hard on the weekends to make up for the eating/drinking?
Em, the Tex Mex came out the other night and when I got home I went online to see how badly I had done. Well my freaking black bean and chicken salad (which was the healthiest thing on the menu thank you very much) was FREAKING 890 calories! I couldn’t believe it! And that’s without the dressing! Makes me really stop and think about how often I used to go eat tex mex out with friends and mindlessly eat an entire bowl of chips and salsa and still devour my dinner which on average was about 1500 cal and 30 gr of fat for the things I used to order. Well, no wonder I gained 30 pounds…lol
Also wanted to share this site I just stumbled upon today. Thought it was a funny concept and since I am the worst when it comes to accountability, I thought I’d sign up for a little more kick in the pants so to speak..lol.. http://www.womenshealthmag.com/fitness/new-we b-site-burn-500-calories-or-burn-500-dollars It’s an article about this new site that started where you have to bet someone that you will quit smoking, lose weight, work out regularly, something custom and you put down a wager. When you don’t complete it you lose hard cash. Something I’m very fond of…lol…and since it’s dear to me I’m thinking it might help me lose the weight! LOL. Well mine will be to burn 500 calories a workout. And I think my roommate will be the ref or tattle tale…lol…and I’m not sure who I will leave the money to. Anyways, thought it was interesting if you all wanted to check it out.
Anyway glad this is still running. I need all the kicks in the butt I can get these days.
Yuri
Hi all
just bumping this up to keep it going and to see how your all doing, been a while since i've been on and 2 pounds has snook back on tho I stopped smoking almost 4 weeks ago so i'm not gonna be too hard on myself just get back into it, joining the gym next week see if that ups my motivation.
Hey Sammi! Hello everyone! I have been ultra slack these last few weeks. Started the new job and I've been in training...will be for 2 more months! Been so exhausted at the end of the day - haven't worked out much or logged on to CC! BAD!
I also put on 2.5 pounds in this time! UGH! This week, I started making myself get up earlier and working out at least 25 minutes in the morning, walking my dog after work and stretching/yoga exercises at night. Doing what I can. The gym at work is shut down for the next month due to renovations, so I haven't been able to utilize that. Soon though.
Congrats to you Sammi on joining a gym AND on quitting smoking. I'm also trying to quit. Such a battle! Cutting back on alcohol, food, smoking, and exercise! Plus be overall more productive...it gets overwhelming!
But...I am giving it another go!
Hope everyone is doing fabulous and staying in good spirits!
