Hi everyone! I am new to Calorie Count and so far I am loving this website :)  I am looking to lose about 15 lbs and to do so I have been eating healthy and going to the gym or running outside. My job relies on my measurements and Im pretty sure that they are currently looking for my replacement because of my weight gain :(  This has me really stressed out and I could use a friend and motivator and I would love to help someone else in any way that I can!

Keep on going !

One more, if you're still looking! I'm 26, 5'6" and about 137, looking to drop 10 pounds. I just switched birth control pills and would like to attribute some of the recent gain to that, but can't use it as an excuse anymore. We can do this!

Hello I am 38 years old, 134lbs, and 5 5'  looking to take off 9 lbs - my guess would be to discuss pitfalls and good advice that has worked for all.

Denae, look at your calorie intake and see if you can cut 100 cals off of your total intake per day - also no carbs at night sometimes your body likes to hold on to the extra glucose for energy the next day.  BUT a couple things

1. make sure you are not below the 1200 cal intake - if so then you are starving your body and you need to think about adding a little more cals to your day.

2. If you've increased your muscle mass then concentrate on measurements as you might be losing inches at this point.

3. And if you are doing all the above then shock the body with alternating cal intake for example - on a lighter workout day eat 1200-1300 cal then the next day eat 1400-1500 cals - this will let your body release some of the stored fat and possible shock it enough to get things moving again..

4. Look at your workouts - have you switch it up remember our bodies get use to the same workouts - also look at your cardio are you doing intervals and challenging yourself..if so then try a slower paced day to let your body recover...

Hope this helps:)

Steph

P.S. can I join the group?

Great, now I'm excited lol. Just gotta figure out a way to go about this.. hmm....

Hey :)

I'm so glad that there are some people out there who would like to do this journey together!  Everyone is welcome, the more the merrier!

I just came accross an online blog and it caught my attention..... has anyone ever tried  incorperating Acai into their weight loss routine?  Or how about a Colon Cleanse?  I have heard good things about both and I am concidering trying them but would like to hear some more opinions!

I hope everyone is doing well today :)

Ange

Acai---my opinion is a waste of $ and time ...but just my opinion :-) never helped me any. I tried it before I joined cc. (I think water is your best tool)

I have to admit I have never done a colon cleanse but I hear your only going to lose water weight...so again "just my opinion" a waste of time and $.

Good luck, I am sure you can meet your goal! CC is a wonderful tool and awesome support group!!!

and if you want another buddy just add me as one to your list. :-)

I have to agree with HTH - Acai is a great berry but only as an addition to your diet - a well rounded diet is always best - also if you are looking to keep this weight off for life then you need to make sure you make the necessary changes in your diet that will help you in the long-term not short...

Strawberries, blue, black, and rasp - give you the same antioxidants so stick with something you can buy at your reg store...

If you are looking for a quick weigh in loss then colon cleansing is a quick fix but the sec you eat you've put the weight back on.  The best way to rid large intestine junk is to eat fiber, whole fruits and veggies and lean proteins... give this a shot for a couple of days - also Cucumbers, apple cider vinager, and grapefruits are a great sodium release from the body - and it's all natural:)

Hope this helps:)

Denae, look at your calorie intake and see if you can cut 100 cals off of your total intake per day -I don't stick to the same # of cals every day. today I did bout 900 also no carbs at night sometimes your body likes to hold on to the extra glucose for energy the next day. I was eating fruit, beans, or salad as a night snack. Cuz it seemed like I was always starving when I was at the gym. Just found out eating fruit makes me feel hungry especially when i eat it b4 working out. Actually I was thinking about doing low carb next week.
BUT a couple things

1. make sure you are not below the 1200 cal intake - if so then you are starving your body and you need to think about adding a little more cals to your day. What if I'm eating ALOT to where I'm stuffed, but things with very few calories like salad and tender cactus?

2. If you've increased your muscle mass then concentrate on measurements as you might be losing inches at this point. I stopped doing weights cuz i figured the muscle was weighing. Got in a friendly competition w Mom & Sis in Law to see who loses more lbs.

3. And if you are doing all the above then shock the body with alternating cal intake for example - on a lighter workout day eat 1200-1300 cal then the next day eat 1400-1500 cals - this will let your body release some of the stored fat and possible shock it enough to get things moving again.. What do u think about doin Low Carb for a wk? Were weighing in at the end of this mo. & i'll get back to what i'm doing "The Biggest Loser" diet the day after.

4. Look at your workouts - have you switch it up remember our bodies get use to the same workouts - also look at your cardio are you doing intervals and challenging yourself..if so then try a slower paced day to let your body recover... Last wk I tried new aerobics classes (salsa, kickboxing, pure abs, etc..., did 2 classes a day. I do the stair treadmill almost everyday. am up to 70min. and if I get up early enough i jog to the park takes me bout 35-45 min, and swimming.

Lots of questions:

1. if you dip below 1200 cal your body wants to hold on to every ounce cal you put into your body - especially all the working out you are doing.  When you put your body into starvation mode it thinks famine is on the way and won't allow your body to lose the weight but store it for the famine to hit - the cortisol takes over which is a stress hormone that over takes your body and adds belly fat once again to ward off the starvation.  With the amount of working out you do you should be putting in 1200 cal or more - this will giver your body the OK to lose.

Fruit at night is good as long as it's as it has a low glycemic value - stick to berries and apples..also beans are fiber/carbs so switch to nuts if you are not allergic to them.  The perfect before gym snack is a lean meat sandwich or granola bar, cheese and and apple - the mix of carb/protein help give the body energy - no snack should be more then 150 cals..  Fruit could be making you hungry becuase you are especially if you are restricting cals the way you do - make sure you are getting enough water throughout the day - and if you are a sweater during class then make sure you replace the fluids you lost during class with water.

1. low cal - good nutritious food is great - just watch your cal intake - please try to bring up your intake to 1200 that way you don't binge at the end of the night or week which puts the weight back on..also are a vegetarian?  I don't hear a lot about meat.. if so let me know i'm one as well and can give you great protein ideas.

2. NEVER get rid of weight training - this provides your body with muscle to burn more cals throughout the day - you need to be doing weights!!  Also helps with zipping up the body and making it look lean!

3. Low carb is good as long as it is not NO carb - you can stay away from the bread and crackers but don't get rid of the fruits and veggies:)

Hope this helps?

I'll add to the conversation!! 24 yrs old, 5'3 and 124...looking to lose 9lbs and get back in shape for the upcoming snowboard season!!

From what I've heard, the colon cleanse is unhealthy and the acai is BS. Jamba Juice has been making Acai Smoothies and it's really just a healthy antioxidant...not really a weight loss gig. The colon cleanse...I thought about this but at our age, we are too young to really have THAT much build up...we just need to eat right. I take Benefiber just to be sure that I have enough fiber in my diet. Try that! It's harmless.

Is my body still in starvation mode even if im not hungry or if im eating large amounts of food with few calories?... im not a vegetarian but now that im "dieting" I dont really care for meat, I can take it or leave it. please share ur ideas I love trying new foods... doing weights, is it more likely that i loose more lbs doing them or not? Im trying to loose more lbs by July 31... my grandmas doc gave her a list of low carb stuff he wanted her to stick to, everyone told me bout how she lost alot in little time, thats why I wanted to try it. but its pretty much all meat & veggies. it says no fruit, nuts, grains, dairy (other than plain yogurt n some cheeses.
P.S. it finally moved! 152.5 its only .5 but its something I'll take it!
bout the colonic, I dont remember if Usher got it done on camera r someone else but I remember him talking bout having it done cuz he had a show n was constipated (help him b lighter on his feet haha). n i remember seeing brown poop then black poop goin through the pipe n the lady said it was mega old poop n super stinky lol

Hey I'm 24 years old, 5'5, 139lbs looking to get to 110! Smile

So how/when we going to start this guys?

Weigh-in days? Recap of daily meals? so we can give some advice/support?

sitting in class taking notes burns 124cal an hour, really? hello ladies. im going to this convention these next 3 days. in total, drive there, be there, drive back, im sitting bout 12hrs. i seriously doubt im gonna work out at all these 3 day. what should i eat? today, my sweet husband made me bfast some sort of grilled cheese sandwich with jelly and i cant remember the name of the meat, looks like roastbeef but smells like basil n rosemary i think. not sure if i shouldve eatn it. also yogurt, blueberries, almonds, for lunch big sandwich with pastrami, avocado, n stuff 2pickles, carrots, melon, n V8. dinner he made chicken cordon bleu, dont think i shouldve had that either. when i tried to add up cals. OH BOY!! I stopped logging close to 1,000, I was only half way... Yikes!! What can I pack for lunch that wont yet soggy, messy, or give me gas?

okay everyone...... I owe you all (but mainly myself) an apology!! I have been slacking off and haven't logged on to C.C. in quite some time now... I find it really hard to get back on track once I have had a bad diet day or if I have skipped the gym for a couple of days. BUT here I am, back and ready to rock :)

I told my boyfriend that I want him to help me get my stomach to look the best that it can,  so we did lots of Ab work last night, and I will continue to do it everyday for the next month minimum! I can't wait to see some results! My tummy muscles are killing me this morning :P

How is everyone else doing? Has anyone had any struggles or any great accomplishments?  I'd love to hear about em :)

dont do ab muscles everyday. when you are building muscle you need a day or 2 to repair. so, do them about 3-4 times a week.

Mike

I was able to do low carb all last wk. I lost 7lbs with almost no exercise. thats  22lbs down, 11 to go.I dont know if Im gonna try another wk like that. You lack eneregy, cant poop, my face looked a mess. One day i worked out for 20min, I felt like i was having a panic attack. Saw black spots, cold sweat, dizzy spell, couldnt breathe right, felt like I was about to get the runs. Man! was not good. These last 3 days I've been very very bad. pizza, chocolate mousse, root beer... but tommorrows Double ad day, Im gonna go grocery shopping but havent decided which diet to do. Im thinking kinda low carbish, cuz if Im craving fruit or dairy, im gonna have it. and maybe not kill myself on the stair treadmill anymore (limit to 20-30min). I think its time I focus on toning up. Im gonna take mikethedoofus' advice 3-4x a wk of abs, n maybe alternate w arms, legs I think Im working um out on the stairs , no?
