YUCK! I hate wheat bread!

Quote  |  Reply
I have tried to like wheat bread over and over and I just cannot do it! I HATE IT! Now I dont eat bread very often anyway but I am tyring to add certain things into my diet so I can break this stinkin plateau. Is rye bread as good for you as wheat? I love Rye bread! It has 70 cals a slice so it doesnt seem to horrible and it isnt a "white" bread! soooo will that work for those moments I WANT bread?

I really like Sara Lee's 100% Multigrain Bread.  It is soft, has a great flavor, and the whole grains are really good for you.  I think it is between 70-80 calories per slice.  Sara Lee also has a 100% Multigrain "Heart Healthy" bread, but it's really dry and the loaf is wide, so it doesn't fit in my toaster.

I think that this bread is a great option or transition for people who don't like wheat bread.  IMO (I don't have any to compare labels right now) it is better for you than regular wheat bread.

Give it a shot!
I also absolutely haaate wheat bread, but Sara Lee's is actually very good.  I mostly like it because it is not graining like normal wheat is.  It's worth a try!
i will try i spose!
i use the 40 calorie bread from natures own. i love the honey wheat.
I hate wheat bread as well But i do like multi grain and sunflower bread try them you might like them
I never knew that a lot of the bread we eat has HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup) in it until I looked at the ingrediants...I try to stay away from that stuff, since I like bread. Anyway back to the thread topic I can only eat wheat bread toasted, then it's not so bad.
I've been eating oatmeal bread.  I find that it tastes a lot more like white bread but is lower in cals/fat/yuckiness.  I'm not a wheat bread person either so I feel your pain!
Do you mean whole wheat bread? I use dempsters flax bread thats awesome!! a little high with 110 cals a slice but so filling its worth it, that with a little acacia honey yum yum
LOL I buy only wheat bread and my faince hates it too so he buys his own bread. Honestly I don't think there's much difference. I but Nature's Own Wheat N Fiber bread.
I grew up on white bread and I absolutely hated wheat bread until I tried Sara Lee. The Honey Wheat one is really good
Orowheat's Oat Nut Bread is yummy!!!!!
I'm actually the opposite. I hate white bread. I think it's because I grew up eating wheat bread. *ponders*

Anyway, I like Nature's Own double fiber bread. It tastes fine to me, is 40 calories a slice and has twice the fiber! I don't know if you'd like the taste, but I thought I'd suggest it anyway.
dolcemara I'm with you I can't stand white bread. It's so icky. It's like eating a sponge. Doesn't even taste like anything.

There's that new wonderbread though, for those that don't like the whole wheat bread. Wonder plus I think? supposedly has the goodness of whole wheat? Could be a start. Either that or a 60% whole wheat bread.
Me too, Dolce and Kylam. I have always hated white bread...its like eating a piece of styrofoam: no texture, no flavor, no nutritional value. The more little nuts and grains and seeds, the better.

And yes, Kcn - I would count Rye bread as a "whole grain" healthy bread :)
45 calories a slice/ Sarah Lee wheat bread.  Mice/rats in factories won't even eat white bread. It expands in their stomachs and kills them.
My logic being...  If ' mice/ rats ' won't touch it... Neither will I. =-P
There are some brands that have "white" wheat.  I personally haven't checked the label, but you might check that out to see if you can get some of the benefits of wheat bread with a white bread taste.  Any step in that direction is better than not eating wheat bread at all.
I'm pretty sure wonderbread has a 40 ca/slice white... anyone else heard of it?  I know they at least have oat bread...
I like Nature's Own White Wheat.  I like to eat rolls & breads from the food store's bakery, but if I don't have the nutrionitional info, and most don't put it on there, then I try to stay away from it.  I find it best if I know the numbers on everything.  They make me feel sure I'm doing it right.
yes robinsue... white weat is THE BEST!!  and ITS ONLY 50 CALS A SLICE!!
