Moderators: duke3522, devilish_patsy, topanga1485, nycgirl, spoiled_candy, cmillington, coach_k Yuk !!!! I can feel my BONES !!!
Last night whilst in bed, I could really feel my rib bone. I have always been overweight since a child and never seen myself slim. Even though I am over the moon that I'm getting to goal. I'm feeling uncomfortable, ie skin not so plump and the BONES!!!!!THE BONES
I'm even sleeping on my back, so I don't feel my ribs... Also the slimmer I get, the more vulnerable I'm feeling........ I'm a little confused and surprised about these feelings...Gosh have I gone mad, having I got issues, do I need to call a therapist lol....
I'm not sure if I like feeling slim (but I like looking slim) ..I will continue, but does anyone else feel the same....
Hope I'm not alone in my madness...

Nooooo.. I don't think I have that problem. Only bone I can feel is my collarbone... :)
Yes and my boobs used to be like ( . )( . ) and now they are like (.)(.) nahhhhh....... does that firming lotion stuff work.....?
Ooo, I have the collarbone bad like HK. My main other place is my hip bones. They stick out like craziness! No ribs yet, too much flubber in the way.
Some people can use their fat as a way to keep others away/protect themselves by not becoming close to others. This could make you feel vulnerable as you lose the fat. Or like if someone didn't want attention from men, she might stay overweight so as not to attract unwanted attention, and then if she lost weight she would feel uncomfortable when she started getting attention.
Be glad you don't have my body then. But I like it.
You have to get used to it, armandfrvr has a good point.

I know how you feel... I've been overweight since I was a child as well. It is the most weirdest feeling to feel your bones... I remember the first time I was laying in bed and felt my ribs from my back. I freaked out and ate something!!! Crazy!! Our minds are so used to one things... sometimes you feel so lost and vunerable. It takes some time to adjust... just stick to what you are doing and breathe.
Me, too, finewine! Hip bones are jutting out like..like...spikes! It's quite dangerous; don't bump into me. I'll CUT ya!
No, just kidding. uncompromise, that's great progress! :)

I used to always be able to feel my bones...cant wait until I can feel them again!!!! They have have been covered in flubber too long....first step is finding my collarbone, lol, it should be the easiest.
What I would give to have the boney look again!
I have always been fairly thin so it doesn't phase me at all. But you can especially see the bones in my dainty wrists, it seems almost skeletal.
I guess it's just a matter of how you 'feel' in your body. We all get used to seeing and feeling a certain way and when it changes, we don't feel like ourselves.
I feel exactly the opposite. I've never been skinny by any means (more athletic/muscular), but over the past 4 years I've put on over 20 pounds and my body doesn't FEEL like it's mine! It's like somewhere under all this fat is ME, but when I touch my legs or butt, I don't recognize me. It doesn't feel like me.
I can't wait to find my bones again (hip bones especially... I miss them)!

I can't exactly help from my own experience, but I remember Alwayzfreetobeme posting something really similar to this! As most of us know, she got past that and is doing great! You might visit her in her journal and ask her advice. Sorry Alwayz, hope ya don't mind. :)
Hey uncompromise, first let me congradulate you on your success. I know it's no easy feat. Like you, I've been over weight much of my life and mostly felt comfortable in my own skin, and despite my conservative way of dressing, got way more attention from men than I liked (I'm way passed that weight atm).
None the less, I've often lost weight to try to look more like what society says is the "norm", through these times, when I've reached lower weights, I've felt the bones, hip bones bugged me the most when I was laying on the floor trying to veg out infront of the tele. It's normal and after a while you get used to it.
At anyrate, I think your next point is why I always put the weight back on , and then some. "Also the slimmer I get, the more vulnerable I'm feeling........ I'm a little confused and surprised about these feelings...Gosh have I gone mad...".
I also didn't like the feelings that came up. Rather than exploring them, or looking for help (like you are now, Congrats for this especially!!! : ) I would simply eat away all my hard work.
Now I've come to terms with the fact that I'm an emotional eater and am dealing. I am confident that this will make all the difference.
there are many great copeing tools for dealing with the uneasy feelings that are coming up, here's a short list for you:
Congradulations on your success, it's inspiring : )

- check it out, see what the feeling is about. let it have some space and a voice.
- journal, another really good way of checking in on your deeper self. it's also a great place to learn more about you, vent, reflect and see the bigger picture in time.
- pamper/comfort yourself. I'm guessing you used to numb feelings or just make yourself feel good with food. Did you replace it with something else? Like maybe watching a comedy, dancing, bubble bath..... what ever works for you : )
I've made a post of advice and tips that where offered to me when I called for help when I was feeling bumbed out. it's called, Help when you are feeling discouraged and hopeless, you can find it in the motivation forum.

feeling my bones if my most favoritest part of losing weight. yay
Hey you guys are great......Yes I will just breath, relax and adjust... Its about the brain getting used to it all...... It can take a while, even when my shape changed each day (It even feels that the fat moves around)
It's interesting 'the emotional eating thing' because I associate eating food with 'good times'...... I tell you, if I suffered from depression I would be skinny!!!!
I won't come of track, I will stick with it........ It was these feelings where very new, more of a shock surprise really.....
Its nice to know that I'm not alone.

Hey uncompromise, kudos to you for staying the course.
Well as poohb said, I can relate... I too have pretty much always been overweight, and I'm used to sleeping on my stomach with one hand behind my below and the other bent right on my ribs... well lately it because very uncomfortable because of those nasty ribs, I haven't had a problem with my hips yet, haven't lost much weight there yet, but a lot of weight of the weight lost has been from the rib area that I can't sleep like that any more, I go to put my arm on my ribs (while on my stomach) and it's like... nevermind... lol, but as you even said it just takes time to get used to all of this, including the bones
armandfrvr did also make a good point- but that does go both ways, people also turn to anorexia/bulmia for that same reason

Hm...I like that feeling. But I have problems : )
I can relate a little..... not to the ribs thing (not that far yet!)
When I sleep, I tend to, I don't know, 'hug' myself. You know, like a teddy bear? It's been a little wierd to not be so 'comfy' anymore.
